What is the ism that is in vogue now?

I have been asking this question for some time now and no one seems to know. Some have guessed minimalism. I think we should start a new ism. I'm working on that. My other Question who is the most famous artist now? Who is our Georgia O'keefe, Salvador Dali, or Picasso?

A wildlife mural

I painted this in a little boys room. This is pretty much what the views are around here in the fall. The geese are flying back I saw a flock flying overhead yesterday. Spring is almost here.

The spring window at Ediths Bridal

The spring window I was working on. Nothing is blooming here. It actually was suppose to snow today so this was like gardening for me.

Working out these peonies.

In the studio drawing today. I'm working on a new design for the bridal shop windows I decorate. Theme -frogs into princes. Tomorrow I will go and pick out dresses and colors for the tuxes. We are going to print out cloud banners and then look for props down in their scary basement.. Last time I was down there I saw some butterflies and some flowering trees.
The children's bath room is gender neutral. The background color is a soft blue. Simple

This is the finished tween room I was working on last week. Lots of paint and more work then it looks.

Finished painting tween room then was asked to design a bathroom for the children. I started with the base coat today, a soft shade of blue. Tomorrow I'm going to paint accent circles and then two canvased. I'm thinking something like a monogram and then the kids can add to it.

This is the study in the positive space. Here's a funny . I was painting this painting with an older women; she is in her mid 70"s. As we were painting she told me how she was at an antique store and found her favorite cross your heart bra that they stopped making 20 years ago. She knew it was her favorite bra because it was numbered 4698. It was the only bra style she ever bought until they stopped making it. You know your getting old when your under garmets are in a antique store. We had a good laugh about this so I thought my martini waiter needed a little extra support as well, Style # 4698.

This is a study on negative space. This pink froggy keeps showing up in my paintings.

Sunday

Yea its Sunday and 50 out side. I finished my tween room took pictures and everything but my camera deleted them. I'm having problems with formatting. I've had nothing but problems with this new camera Kodak easy share. So I have to figure that out> I will be going back next week to paint the bathroom so hopefully by then I will have my camera figured out.
This is the picture I thought I added last week. Some progress in the left lower corner. I hope to work on this today. Today we have to fix our fish pond by my studio. Funny thing I drained it out a little and didn't take the drain out so unbenounced to me it kept syphoning out...3hours latter the pond is empty and the fish are flapping. not good.

This painting started out as a doodle, my girls are both going to college next year. They will be butterflies flying out the door that is open wide in the center of the chest of the tree. I'm really enjoying this painting. I love the colors.

working on the abstract. concentrating on the left corner.

I have to go finish the stripe walls I'm painting for a tween er. Then will see whats going on if I can work on my paintings some more. I usually paint while Jeff (my husband) plays games on the pc.

This is the abstract I'm working on. I'm not sure if I'm going to add more gold or if I'm going to chemically change the golds pigment. I have a bedroom and bath to paint tomorrow so hopefully after I get the paint and everything I need for that I can come home and work on this painting some more. It will probable be good to get away from it for a while and get some new perspective.

wendsday

Today it is cold and windy out side a good day to be painting in the studio. I have finished leafing on my new abstract so now its up on the easel. Not loving it yet. Waiting to get paid for a job I did a month ago and last week. Hate that. I made phone calls for a flooring dealer, now I have to call and set up a time with my client. We are going to be redoing the master bedroom and converting a formal living room into a study. I can't waite for that. I will be painting a mural on the ceiling . I might be painting something in the tray ceiling in the master as well. We have to nail down color and flooring first.

Little Anna's new room

This is Anna in her new room. Anna is 6 now and has a say in what her new room will look like. This is the 3rd room I will be doing for Anna. The first was a nursery purples and pinks. It turned out so cute. The second was pink and green. Anna shared this room with her little sister. Now she is in her own room and does not like pink or green. Her color is teal. She is so cute, a little pixy. Anna looked up at me with big brown eyes all excited about decorating her room, I just wanted to give her a big hug.She is so cute. Any way: she likes Teal #1 then yellow, brown, orange, black and white.. She also likes pokadots and flowers. So now to the drawing board. I set up a meeting with my pint size client for next week. Lets see what I can come up with.

The Ladies

I call this painting THE LADIES. I did some work last year renovating an old farm house. I seriously painted faux finishes or motifs in every room. They had a small chicken coop and everyday before leaving I would go over with my camera and take pictures of the chickens. Those ladies were a mess. Some of them were missing most of their feathers they looked dirty. All they did all day was eat, screw around with the rooster and lay eggs. What a life.

This is an example of the finished abstract. I'll take a picture of the one I'm working on now a painting in progress. For now I have to run and check on a potental job. A teenage bed room. Those are always fun. Maybe the economy is picking up,3rd call today.

Waiting for things to pick up and not go broke.

I have been working in my studio for the past two months waiting for this whole economy down turn to get better. I know I am not unlike everyone else in this world, but at least I do have a creative outlet. So that is what I have been doing, creating. The one good thing about slow time is that I get more time to paint. I am working on a series of abstract paintings that are a mixture of acrylic and metal leafing. They are a little off setting because the supplies I use are not inexpensive, so when they start of looking a mess that is scary. There is no going back.
